Marketplace seller account map

A marketplace seller cohort ready for commercial action

A commercial team needed more than a list of marketplace storefronts. It needed accounts it could prioritize by market, catalogue activity, owned commerce footprint and reachability. The result was a 118-account market across 15 countries.

The change

From a broad target to accounts the team could use.

Add relevant people and company contact channels so the shortlist can support sales or partnership work.

Target accounts

118 companies met the agreed marketplace criterion across 15 European countries.

Commerce context

106 accounts had an observable owned-site platform, supporting technology and channel segmentation.

Relevant people

84 accounts had at least one accepted person; the cohort contained 204 accepted people in total.

The commercial objective

The team wanted to identify substantial marketplace sellers and turn them into accounts that a sales or partnerships function could actually use. The agreed starting point was specific: sellers with at least 5,000 observed marketplace products.

That produced 118 company accounts across 15 European countries. Instead of stopping at a storefront name, the account map connected each opportunity to its matched legal entity and added the commercial context needed to decide where it belonged in the team’s priorities.

What made the account map usable

Each account could bring together:

  • the operating company and country;
  • marketplace presence and catalogue activity;
  • its owned ecommerce site and observed commerce platform;
  • product category and advertising presence;
  • relevant people and verified company contact routes.

Platform context was available for 106 of the 118 accounts. Within the cohort, 81 accounts combined a known platform, owned-site scale evidence and marketplace product detail. That gives a commercial team a practical way to segment by channel maturity, technology, category or account type before deciding whom to approach.

What the commercial team could act on

The account map supported several immediate decisions:

  • assign the 118 accounts by country, market or category;
  • isolate sellers with both significant marketplace activity and an established owned store;
  • segment 106 accounts by observed commerce platform;
  • focus research on the 84 accounts with at least one accepted relevant person;
  • route outreach through the 89 accounts with a best contactable company email;
  • retain a company-phone route for 114 accounts.

The cohort contained 204 accepted people, including 37 HIGH-priority people. Forty-three accounts combined a company-page presence, an accepted relevant person and a best company email. Sixty-three combined an accepted person, a best company email and a company phone. These are the accounts where marketplace evidence becomes a genuinely usable commercial starting point.

The proof

The value was not a larger spreadsheet. It was a coherent path from a market signal to an account the commercial team could understand and approach:

marketplace criterion → legal-entity account → commerce context → relevant role → contact route

The 5,000-product criterion measures observed marketplace catalogue activity; it is not a measure of revenue, profitability or growth.
